Born in Alexander City, Alabama on May 30, 1970, and attended the local schools. After graduating from Benjamin Russell High School, he entered Auburn University in the School of Commerce and Business Administration. While in undergraduate school, he was elected to Phi Eta Sigma freshman honor society.
He graduated cum laude in 1992 with a B.S. degree in Finance, with the highest average in the School of Finance and as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society (top 5%). Jason entered the University of Alabama School of Law in 1994 and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1997. While a law student, he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Law & Psychology Review.
Jason is active in his community, particularly in youth sports. He has served on the boards of the Coosa Valley Girl's Softball Association and the Southern Youth Baseball League. Jason has coached boys' and girls' baseball, softball and basketball for several years.
He is a member of the Gadsden Area Chamber of Commerce and First United Methodist Church of Gadsden and is a former Chairman of the Professionals Division of United Way of Etowah County. He is President - Elect of the Gadsden Rotary Club. Jason is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Etowah County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all Alabama State courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama, and the United States Supreme Court. He has been a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama since 1999.
From 2003 to 2009, Jason co-owned a regional land title abstracting company which performed title searches in hundreds of counties in the southeastern part of the United States. Jason's law practice is focused on real estate matters including title searches, title opinions, title insurance and loan closings. Jason also practices in the areas of business transactions and disputes, family law, probate court, personal injury, and immigration law.
In 2009, in a products liability case against a major automobile manufacturer, Jason was part of a trial team that obtained the largest jury verdict ($8.5 million) ever awarded by a jury in Etowah County, Alabama.
Jason is a partner in the law firm of Knowles & Sullivan, LLC in Gadsden, Alabama. He has two children, a daughter, Caroline, and a son, Jay.
